This is the first time I've written on my first blog about my first participation in a writing contest. I'm so excited!
So for this FIRST time, I'll make it short and sweet.
FIRSTLY, I want to thank my guide and mentor, Jacky Gray, for her patience, invaluable advice, focused insight and ability to zoom in on snags. She is an established author who has written an absorbing and fascinating series of books: 'Archer', 'Rory' and 'Reagan' about an alternate, medieval England.
Archer is 16, but possesses the courage of a man. One cannot help falling in love with him (as do his many admirers of both sexes) as he demonstrates his talent with the longbow, his honesty and strength of character.
Secondly, I am indebted to many new friends with whom I became acquainted (as Jacky and I did), through the medium of the Amazon Contest Forum. I don't want to mention their names without their permission, right, Don, Thomas, Eli, Maggie, Audrey.....?
The contest is called the ABNA and is held each year. This time there are 10,000 participants and the first sorting - the most crucial - will cut that number down to 2,000. It will take place in (gulp!) 12 days!
My submission is the second of two novels which I published on Smashwords last year.
The URL to 'A Tale of the South' is : http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/265183
(You can also
access this one from the above)
Please note that the first is in the
general section, whereas the second is for
adults only.
I would be happy if I could hear from those interested in a link to the work of Jacky and my other friends - provided I find out how to 'attach' the links as well as photographs!
Well, that's all for now.
Cheerio and have a wonderful life!
